Park Near to Completion

Rosie | August 9, 2009

These photos taken at the end of week 9, show the park nearing its end stages. The benches, main outer surface and flood light posts are in place.

Reports have come in that some people have already skated in the park. Please DO NOT enter the construction site, as it is still very dangerous even if it looks nearly completed, there are heavy machinery and dangerous materials around, which could cause injuries. Breaking the fences to get in is also not acceptable! There is not much longer until the park will be open to the public (beginning of September according to sources from Level Two), so please wait out that little longer and enjoy it safely. Thank you!

It currently looks that way, when we have some more information we’ll post it here. Some of us have been waiting years for this park, couple of weeks can’t be that bad in the grand scheme of things.

I live nearby and every weekend there are loads of kids on the skatepark, police get called and the kids leave and then go back again. I cant believe it is taking so long……………….. surely it would have been sensible to have it ready for the kids while there are on school holidays!!!!!! Just 1 question – where will they go to use a toilet if they are there all day?????

Hi Shirley, thanks for you comments. It is a shame

Hi Shirley, thanks for you comments. It is a shame that people can’t wait for the park to be completed before using it as its not long now. We have stressed a couple of times on the website that people should wait until the park is completed before skating. The construction of the skatepark has taken some time, its a pity that the construction had to coincide with the school holidays; however I’d guess that July and August do offer the best weather conditions for construction. In regards to toilets there are non included within the skatepark design currently, but this is also true for other recreation sites within the town.
