Now that looks like a skatepark!

admin | July 28, 2009

I’ve not been in town for two weeks and when I finally got the chance to go and have a look at how the build of the skatepark was going; I could not believe my eyes. I’ve been waiting for this park a long time, and I know people that have been waiting for a skatepark in Felixstowe for over ten years. It’s so nice to see the concrete in the ground; the smooth curves of the transitions and it looks like a park that’s ready to skate!

As with whenever I go to see the park, my camera came with me and below I’ve included some of the best shots I took at the weekend. This includes some photographs of the earth bungs that will help to deaden the noise made on skatepark. I’ve also included a couple of shots to try and show the layout of the park and the equipment.

In Comes the Concrete

Rosie | July 23, 2009

Last week the main structure of the skatepark was beginning to show, but this week at the construction site, the main focus is on the surfaces. The photos below show the workers spraying the concrete to continue to produce the smooth walls, lips and main bowl of the park.

Construction Site Special #1

Rosie | July 18, 2009

On Monday FelixstoweSkatepark.co.uk was granted access to the Felixstowe Skatepark construction site on Orwell Green to take some new close up images of the build. I was allowed to walk completely around the main area of the park to be able to get some great images that display just how much progress has been made in only 7 weeks.

The first few photos below are some wide shot images at different positions around the main area showing the development of the entire sunken concrete structure. Next are wide shots next to close up images of the ledges and ramps from a range of angles around the site to display the location with a more detailed view.

After the long shoot around the construction site, I was able to talk to some of the construction workers who confirmed to FelixstoweSkatepark.co.uk that the park should be finished in roughly 3 weeks time! So it’s great news that hopefully in August we will finally be able to enjoy the completed skatepark.

Each week leading up to the completion we will enter the site and take more close up photos in our Construction Site Specials to record the last stages of the build, so stay tuned!

Beginning of Week 7

Rosie | July 14, 2009

Time has gone by fast since our photos at the end of May in the very first week of the build. It’s now mid July and, as the photos below show, the constructors are significantly making way into the final skatepark design. At this stage it is even clear to see the shape of the ramps that are being prepared to be sprayed with concrete.

Check back here later this week to see close up shots from within the construction site itself, here at FelixstoweSkatepark.co.uk.

Skatepark Taking Shape

admin | July 2, 2009

Sorry its been a while, as you can see from the photos below, the skatepark is coming along nicely. The shape of the park is very to clear to see now, with the earth work done for the bowls and ramps. Also the work is well underway on creating the earth bungs that will surround the park to minimise the noise pollution from the park to the nearby houses.
